Validating FPL Flights with CFMU in Europe

Written by Nick Barron | Mar 14, 2014 1:08:05 PM

Did you know that you can use RocketRoute for FREE as a fast way to validate your routes when flying in Europe?

Background

Within Europe there are as many as 30,000 restrictions in operation at any one time that limit the use of particular airways by days of the week AND by times of day.

This makes generating and preparing an IFR (Instrument) route a complex and lengthy task.

Eurocontrol and CFMU provide several tools including the NOP Portal as a method to validate routes either using a form or cut/paste of the Type B message structure.

RocketRoute is a quick, easy to use alternative!  Try it today. Free to Validate on Web or Mobile!

Plus its just a few extra clicks to file the flight plan too!

How It Works

1. Create a Free Member Account
2. Sign in via https://fly.rocketroute.com/login
3. Click Prepare Plan
4. Click Route
5. Enter Basic Route Details
6. Click Validate

RocketRoute has a direct connection to Eurocontrol CFMU and will return either a Valid tick, or details of the errors returned by CFMU.

Example

This is an example route EGNX to EBCI departing on 14th March.

Remember that Eurocontrol only validates and allows plans to be filed 5 x 24 hours in advance (note not the same as 5 days!).

Below is an example with the flight prepared for validation in RocketRoute.

Input Route

Once you have input the route, Click the Validate Button.

Below is an example of a failed route.

Route Not Validated

RocketRoute will also provide a popup providing more detail of the error where available from EuroControl.

The above example shows the response when a route is valid by CFMU RocketRoute.
