RocketRoute working with Hendell Aviation, FlyEasy and FLY7 has added drift down characteristics for the Pilatus PC12 and has developed a new tool enabling you to plan a route more safely in the unlikely event of an enroute power failure.
If you operate a single engine turbo prop aircraft under an AOC, you can now plan safer routes meeting your operational requirements.
If you are looking to take advantage of the lower operating costs and capability of flying into smaller airports by using single engine turbo propeller aircraft, RocketRoute will help you with such flights. Now they will be planned meeting the current European Safety guidance requirements for SEOPS.
This newly developed feature of RocketRoute will allow planners to check whether routings and cruising flight levels are covered by alternates quickly and easily.
This feature is initially only available to members with business accounts.
Members operating Cessna, Pilatus, Piper and TBM turbo props are invited to evaluate this new feature.
Simply email the sales team (sales@rocketroute.com).
1. Prepare a route as you normally would using the RocketRoute.
2. Scroll down a bit to see the advanced Autoroute setting. Click to put a tick in front of the Show SEOPS planning section.
3. Check your route and available airports along the route. Put the ICAO code of an airport into the Divert 1 / ERA 1 field.
4. Click a "plus" button to add more airports.
The aim is to ensure that you are within drift down distance of a suitable landing site throughout the flight. The circles indicate the distance your aircraft will glide in the unlikely event of a power failure at your planned cruising FL.
5. Now check your cruising Flight Level. If it’s too low, the circles will not overlap. To achieve this you will need to either increase the cruising FL or add more airports along your route.
Naturally as the cruising FL increases so do the radii of the circles.
If it is impractical to increase the cruising FL for whatever reason then - add more suitable enroute landing sites.
6. To do this click the + box adjacent to the last Divert1/ERA1 and insert the ICAO code of an airport into the blank Divert 1 / ERA 1 field.
Click a “plus” button to add more airports.
The Enroute Alternate Circles will also be shown in the Briefing pack of the flight.
