Sound Silencing Advantages at EGKB

In an innovative move, London Biggin Hill Airport are offering a 25% discount in landing fees for planes whose owners or operators install an approved silencer system.

The scheme, which is part of the Airport’s Noise Action Plan, applies to light single engine aircraft with a Maximum Authorised Take-off Mass of 2300kg. The new silencer system must be EASA or FAA approved and the reduction in noise must be at least 5dB.

Before installation, owners and operators should make a technical presentation to the Airport to ensure the noise reduction system meets the terms of the Light Aircraft Exhaust Silencer Incentive Scheme (LASIS).

The purpose of the Scheme is to create a quieter environment for neighbors, and it suggests a way forward as the number of light aircraft taking to the skies continues to soar annually.
