Many operators and pilots of jets have access to Controller-Pilot-Data-Link Communication systems (CPDLC) if they activate it.

About

Controller–Pilot Data-Link Communications (CPDLC), also referred to as Controller-Pilot Data-Link (CPDL), is a method by which air traffic controllers can communicate with pilots over a Data-Link System.

Voice communication, i.e. exchanging information verbally, has until now been the most widely used means of communication between air traffic controllers and pilots. Over time, and with traffic growth, this technology has shown its limitations.

In order to solve this issue EUROCONTROL has developed Controller-Pilot Data-Link Communications (CPDLC), an air/ground data-link application currently used at the Maastricht Upper Area Control Centre (MUAC), which enables the exchange of text messages between air traffic controllers and pilots.

RocketRoute and CPDLC

We would like to highlight that our users should activate CPDLC in the settings of their account.
If the operators equipment supports CPDLC, the operator can edit the aircraft settings in RocketRoute and add the details.
Tick "Z" for additional equipment and indicate CPDLC, then add the CPDLC code of your aircraft to the CODE/section as indicated in the screenshot below:

Below you may see the example of a successful in-flight CPDLC connection. You can also notice that a message has been received.
