RocketRoute user Amanda Harrison is set to retrace Amy Johnson’s epic solo flight from the United Kingdom to Australia in a bi-plane!

This November, a female pilot and RocketRoute member Amanda Harrison, will recreate Amy Johnson’s epic adventure flying solo from England to Australia in 19 days.
Amy Johnson (1 July 1903 – 5 January 1941) was a pioneering English aviator or in the language of the time, "aviatrix" and was the first female pilot to fly SOLO from Britain to Australia and it hasn’t been done since in a Moth aeroplane. Flying G-AAAH, a Gipsy Moth which was the first of her aircraft named "Jason", she left Croydon, south of London, on 5th May of that year and landed in Darwin, Northern Territory, on 24 May after flying 11,000 miles (18,000 km). Her aircraft for this flight can still be seen in the Science Museum in London.

When Johnson made the solo flight in 1930, she became an international sensation.
" I discovered Amy after I started to learn to fly, after I had taken my first flight in a Tiger Moth. I decided that I wanted to fly like that," Amanda Harrison said.
"She was an inspirational woman and that's why I want to pay homage to her by doing this flight.", Amanda says
Amanda will be recreating the flight solo, in an English De Hallivand Moth. She plans to depart November 19th. Amanda is using RocketRoute for her trip to file flight plans.
