Flight planners can now view enhanced information regarding previously filed routes between airport pairs. This new capability works globally, however is especially useful when flight planning in the USA where there is no formal ‘pre-validation’ system, similar to the Eurocontrol process. This feature is particularly helpful when there is a need to understand whether a returned route has been flown previously.
Therefore, an accepted method of filing is to analyse routes that have been previously filed/cleared, as this is a very good indicator of whether a newly filed plan will be accepted by ATC.
In this example, the previous history is available for every route option.
Previous filing history is shown for only two of the returned options (filing history is not available for all route options and will only be shown when available).
This feature searches for previously filed routes during the previous 180 days. If applicable routes have been found, a message will be appended to the route option.
Examples of typically displayed 'crowd-sourced' validation messages.
If a route has been filed within the previous 24 hours: 'Filed 14 hours ago for a GLEX'.
If a route has been filed more than 24 hours previously: 'Filed 2 days ago for a GLF5'.
If 2 or more similar routes match, the following messages will be shown:
If the group of routes has been filed within the previous 24 hours: 'Filed 3 times in the last 14 hours'.
If a group of routes has been filed more than 24 hours previously: 'Route filed 5 times in the last 30 days'.
