Our latest release brings improved and new functionality to the RocketRoute Android mobile app. GPS position accuracy is now more precise and user configurable. New accuracy warning alerts the pilot and ship position will be hidden, reappearing when GPS accuracy is restored.
Ruler Feature
Tapping with two fingers on the map activates the new ruler tool, which shows distance and bearing information. Easily adjust either end of the ruler or click anywhere on the map to hide the ruler feature. Distances are shown in nautical miles, kilometers, and statute miles.
A long press on the text box allows the user to move the ruler around on the map to manipulate position, length, and angle after the initial line creation. The ruler is a great tool for figuring distance to the nearest airport or aircraft range.
Ruler Feature: The black line shows the distance in nautical miles, kilometers, and statute miles and bearing.
Location Accuracy
After receiving feedback from pilots, we have added the ability for the pilot to set their personal position accuracy requirements between 5 meters and 200 meters. Allowing users to see the proper position of their aircraft.
Settings
To set the appropriate location accuracy: Menu > Settings > Position Accuracy Tolerance. You can set the position from 5 - 200 meters. First image below shows the Position Accuracy set to 30 meters, second image shows the aircraft label when the position accuracy is less than 30 meters.
Setting Position Accuracy Tolerance.
The position of the aircraft is shown with an accuracy of 34 meters.
When the Position Accuracy Tolerance is set to 5 meters, the aircraft icon is not shown, as in the example below:
The position accuracy is more than 5 meters and the aircraft icon is not shown.
Note: If the position is below tolerance, then the features of 'Center on my own ship position' and 'Direct to' will not work.
