FlightPlan has updated the calculation of passenger and baggage weights (mass). Load an aircraft with standard weights for Male, Female, Child, Infant, Baggage and calculate Mass and Balance* for a flight.
*we use Mass and Balance or Weight and Balance interchangeably
Note: the feature is available for Business Memberships only.
How to calculate the Mass and Balance
- Prepare a flight as normal in RocketRoute FlightPlan.
Preparing a flight in RocketRoute
- Scroll down and expand the ‘Fuel and M&B’ section.
- Select the ‘M&B’ button to open the ‘Mass & Balance’ calculator.
There are 2 ways that you can input the values:
- manually
- with the help of the M&B pop-up.
To use the pop-up with the standard weights, click the calculator icon.

Open the Passenger & Baggage Calculator by clicking on the Calculator icon. Then enter the number of passenger types and baggage. Press ‘Calculate’ button to save.
If the precise baggage weight is not known, use ‘Max’ button to load the maximum weight authorised by the aircraft manufacturer.

The 'Max' button loads the maximum allowed weight into a particular aircraft segment.
How to set default weights for Passengers and Baggage
- Go to Menu > More > Aircraft
- Select 'Standard Weights (optional)'
- Put ticks in 'Summer/All' and ‘Winter’ to activate the fields
- Select a date for the start of summer and winter periods
- Insert preferred weights for a Male/Female/Child/Infant/Baggage
- Press ‘Save’.
