New Feature: Delay Map or Eurocontrol Current Network Situation Layer

The Current Network Situation layer (also known as a Delay Map) brings together flight planning and status board information in one place. The current network situation from Eurocontrol’s Network Operations Portal (NOP) can be overlaid onto real-time fleet positions. Visualising fleet movement within the unfolding airspace picture empowers operators to make better planning decisions, avoid delays and improve flight efficiencies.

Sourced from the Current Network Situation Layer of the Eurocontrol Network Operations Portal, RocketRoute now provide all operators with great clarity of their fleet position, simultaneously with the current network situation within the Eurocontrol region.

How to activate the Delay Map Layer

To access the FlightBoard and activate the Delay Map layer, follow these steps:

  • Log into RocketRoute account
  • Switch to the FlightBoard page by clicking the 'FlightBoard' section in the top menu

Click FlightBoard in the top menu.

  • Click the FlightBoard icon in the top right corner to navigate from the default settings page to the current list of flights

Click the FlightBoard icon.

  • In the bottom right corner click the 'Track' button and select either to track Fleet (as in the example) or All Flights to get redirected to the map.

  • Now on the fleet tracking page click the round Settings icon to open the Map settings window.

How to read the Delay Map Layer

When the layer is turned on, coloured interactive polygons will be displayed.  Select and Click on a polygon and a Delay Info pop-up window will be shown, which explains the nature of the delay for that selected polygon.

What information is being presented:

Code and Name of the Airspace;

The effective Regulation;

Status of the regulation;

A Reason for a delay;

The Effective date from and until;

The covered Flight Levels;

Time of Total Delay;

Number of Flights Impacted.

The colours that are used for the polygons marked on the map have a role of a severity scale - from blue which represents 'mild delay' through to red - 'severe delay'.
