Osprey Flight Solutions’ Flight Risk Assessments are now available in RocketRoute FlightPlan, enabling customers to assess flight feasibility and access risk assessments in the planning stages of a flight.
We continue to acquaint our readers with the Osprey risk assessment functionality which is available via RocketRoute FlightPlan web application and via briefing pack.
Prepare a route as usual (select aircraft, ADEP, ADES, Date and Time of Flight, set the Target FL) and then click 'Autoroute'.
Either press the 'Flight Log' button under the route box or press the 'Flight Documents' button
The Osprey report has three screens: Map, Summary Assessment, Vertical Profile and a Report button. The default tab is 'Map', which displays the route's overflown countries. Countries are marked with colours that represent different levels of risks (green for the lowest, red for the extreme risk level). Hover the mouse over a country to read the name of the risk area. See image below.
Below you will find 3 screenshots, which depict a variety of RocketRoute FlightPlan map layers together with the Osprey risk assessment report on the right side of the screen. Click on the image to see it in full-screen mode.
The 'Summary Assessment' tab provides specific risk assessment comments for the departure and destination airports, and also for the overflown airspace whether by country or specific risk area. Scroll down the report to receive information about all risk airspaces.
This tab shows a vertical profile of a flight through the risk zones.
The Vertical profile shows how the flight is interacting with Risk Assessments at all levels. It increases situational awareness by providing both the risk status at the planned altitudes, as well as the airspace below in the event of rapid descent or diversion.
To receive a full report in a PDF-format document, press 'Report' button. A new browser tab will be opened and the report will start to be downloaded.
The report is a full Aviation Security Risk Assessment for the flight plan. It will provide the full assessment for the departure and destination airports along with all of the airspace being overflown.
In case nothing is being generated after the 'Report' button has been pressed, check the top right corner of your browser window for a 'Pop-up blocked' sign from an Ad-blocker.
Click the 'Pop-up blocked' message
Like many other reports, the Osprey report can be included in a briefing pack. It's easily done via the settings. Follow these steps:
Go to MORE - ACCOUNT AND SETTINGS, open Briefing Pack section.
Scroll down to find 'Osprey Risk Report', put a tick, press Save.
This will ensure the report will appear in the briefing pack when it's downloaded.
