Introduction

You have probably experienced such a scene - you are at the aircraft, your passengers have just arrived late, you need to quickly delay the flight before it becomes suspended.

RocketRoute deprives you from the hassle of such a situation. Just a couple of clicks from your smartphone or tablet and the Delay message is sent.

Learn how to manage a filed flight plan using RocketRoute. Suitable for IFR and VFR plans filed in Europe.

How to Delay using RocketRoute

Only filed flight plans can be delayed.

To Delay your flight press the Delay button in the ‘Manage’ section.

In the pop-up window enter new departure time in the following format: HHMM. Press the Delay button.

Note: any flight plan cannot be delayed for more than 20 hours.

IFR Flight in Europe

Eurocontrol will confirm that the Delay has been acknowledged and the system will show the ACK message. This means RocketRoute received positive confirmation back from Eurocontrol that the Flight Plan that was requested Delay has been processed. At this point you can be confident that your Flight Plan is now set to the new Off Block Time.

There can also be a MAN and REJ messages. If you receive a MAN meaning “Manual” message, this means Eurocontrol are reviewing your Flight Plan and proposed changes. This can happen if you flying from a regulated airport.

If you receive a REJ meaning “Rejected” message, this means Eurocontrol did not find the original Flight Plan and cannot Delay it OR the flight plan has already been Activated by the Tower or the Pilot. If you receive a REJ message, please contact our Ops team by telephone immediately. We will contact Eurocontrol on your behalf and manually update your flight plan.

The acknowledge message will also be sent to your e-mail box and to your mobile phone.

Here is an example of the Delay ACK e-mail:

VFR Flight in Europe

The procedure of delaying a VFR flight is the same as IFR, but when delaying a VFR flight plan, you will not get an acknowledgement.

The edited flight plan will be sent to the airports of departure and destination in accordance with the current legislative rules of the country/countries over which the flight is made.

If you need to delay a VFR flight plan, go to the manage section of an active (filed) flight and click Delay.

Set the new Departure time in the HHMM format. Press the Delay button.

The delay request has been distributed through the AFTN network. Press ‘Finish’ to exit the message and return to the flight plan.

NOTE: Make sure to close your flight plan when landing at non towered airports. This can also be done through your RocketRoute account.
