New iOS Functionality

Mass & Balance

The Mass and Balance functionality in the RocketRoute electronic flight bag is a valuable feature for pilots. This feature offers several key benefits, allowing for more accurate and efficient flight planning.

  • Simplified Load Planning: The Mass and Balance feature allows pilots to easily input and assess their aircraft's load, including passengers, cargo, and fuel. This simplifies the process of determining the optimal distribution of weight and ensures that the aircraft is loaded correctly for the planned flight.
  • Enhanced Safety: Proper weight and balance management is crucial for safe flight operations. By providing an easy-to-use tool for calculating and verifying the aircraft's mass and balance, pilots can ensure that their aircraft is within the acceptable limits for takeoff, cruise, and landing, reducing the risk of accidents caused by improper weight distribution or overloading.
  • Seamless Integration with Flight Planning: The ability to assign the Mass and Balance report to a specific flight allows pilots to easily incorporate this crucial information into their overall flight planning process. This streamlines the planning workflow and helps ensure that pilots have all the necessary information at their fingertips.
  • Comprehensive Briefing Pack: By attaching the Mass and Balance report to the Briefing Pack, pilots can access all essential flight information in one place. This makes it easier for pilots to review, share, and reference the information during various stages of the flight, from pre-flight preparation to post-flight debriefing.
  • Exportable Reports: The ability to export the Mass and Balance report separately provides pilots with flexibility in sharing and storing this important information. This can be particularly useful for record-keeping purposes or when coordinating with other members of the flight team.

FlightPlan iOS Application Improvements

  • Airport Plates auto-update set to enabled as a default: Ensures that you always have the latest airport plates available without manual intervention.
  • Display Flight Log and Vertical Profile tabs on the map screen even if a flight is not selected: Provides easy access to these important features at any time.
  • Improved Obstacle on Map visualization: Obstacles are now more clearly visible on the map, enhancing safety and awareness.
  • Improved terrain & air visualization in the Vertical Profile: Get a better understanding of your flight path with enhanced terrain and airspace data in the Vertical Profile.
    • The implementation of improved terrain and air visualization in the Vertical Profile of the RocketRoute electronic flight bag (EFB) provides significant value to pilots in several ways:

      1. Enhanced Situational Awareness: By offering a clearer and more detailed visualization of the vertical profile, pilots can gain a better understanding of their flight's altitude in relation to the surrounding terrain, airspace, obstacles, and route details. This improved situational awareness can help pilots make better-informed decisions during their flight, ultimately enhancing safety and efficiency.

      2. Intuitive Color-Coding: The use of blue for the sky and green for the terrain makes it easier for pilots to distinguish between the different elements in the Vertical Profile. This intuitive color-coding allows pilots to quickly comprehend the information displayed, reducing the cognitive load and allowing them to focus on other critical aspects of their flight.

      3. Airspace Awareness: The improved visualization also makes it easier for pilots to identify and understand the various airspace classifications along their route. This can help pilots maintain compliance with airspace restrictions and avoid potential conflicts with other aircraft or controlled airspace.

      4. Obstacle Identification: The enhanced Vertical Profile enables pilots to more easily identify potential obstacles, such as tall structures or mountainous terrain, along their flight path. This information can be crucial in avoiding collision risks and ensuring a safe flight.

      5. Route Planning and Optimization: With a clearer view of the vertical profile, pilots can more effectively plan and optimize their route, taking into account factors such as terrain, airspace, and obstacles. This can lead to more efficient flight paths, fuel savings, and reduced environmental impact.
