Breaking Records to Help Earth

RocketRoute is delighted to be associated with the potentially record-breaking first solo flight by helicopter round Africa. UK-based pilot, Peter Wilson completed the journey of 16,600nm through 23 countries in his Robinson R66 between 22 July and 3 October 2016.

IMG_4802-e1476350713229-390x250Wilson now plans another record-breaking trip, starting in April 2017 and travelling 29,000nm round the world, through 39 different countries in about 140 days.

This will be the second of a major project, called Three Worlds Round, with the final journey, Round Latin America, scheduled for 2018.

Having tried RocketRoute services for the first time with his African trip, Wilson intends to rely on us more for his upcoming epic flights.

Wilson, who was born in Africa, is an environmental and economics expert on a mission. The purpose of these journeys is to promote sustainable development for preserving the planet as opposed to being merely economically wise in the short term.

“Climate change, poverty and sustainable development are so interlinked that they cannot be tackled in isolation,” says Wilson.

The Three Journeys Round project is not solely about publicity but is actively raising funds for Save The Children and Motivation, the leading provider of mobility solutions for disabled people living in the developing world.

RocketRoute salutes Wilson’s noble efforts and ambitious airmanship, and we look forward to being there for him wherever ‘there’ might be.
