Cessna Citation Mustang
History of the Citation Mustang
The designated Cessna 510-Citation Mustang was the world’s first fully certified entry-level business jet. The program was announced at the 2002 National Business Aviation Association convention and the aircraft made its first flight in April 2005. The airplane received full-type certification from the FAA on September 8, 2006, and to fly into “known icing conditions” on November 9, 2006. It achieved EASA certification on May 21st, 2007. The first aircraft was delivered in November 2006. My Mid 2012 the program passed the 400th delivery mark.
Exterior
The airframe is primarily of aluminum alloy construction, with a three-spar wing.
The Mustang features a new high-lift airfoil wing design, which enables low stall speeds as well as the low drag and pitching moments required for high-speed cruise. The leading edges of its wings are swept at 11 degrees, protected by pneumatic de-ice boots. An electronically controlled, hydraulic landing gear system on the Mustang includes retractable trailing links, wheels, and air/oil shocks. Once retracted, the landing gear is secured by up-locks.
On each side of the Mustang’s rear fuselage, enclosed in easily accessible nacelles, are two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW615F-A turbofan engines.
Interior
The citation Mustang interior offers the highest quality materials and first-class comforts. Three distinctive color selections are available for the interior furnishings: Smoky Quartz, Black Pearl, and Silhouette.
The interior is comfortable and space-effective for its size. The cabin measures 9.8 feet in length, 4.5 feet in height, and 4.6 feet in width. The seats are ergonomically designed with comfort and luxury in mind. The reclinable leather seats come with work tables, armrests, storage consoles, and power outlets.
Avionics
The Garmin G1000 integrated avionics suite was chosen for the Mustang front office because it delivers at-a-glance awareness that is comprehensive and intuitive. Consolidating all primary flight, navigation, engine and sensor data onto large, easy-to-scan flat-panel displays, the three-screen Garmin G1000 avionics suite significantly reduces pilot workload, while providing the ultimate measure of situational awareness.
The Mustang’s standard avionics suite includes a four-color weather detection sensor with an integrated receiver and transmitter. Powered by the Garmin GWX 68 digital weather-avoidance radar, this technology is controlled through and displayed on the multifunction display.
